Recycled polyester is a more environmentally friendly fabric option because it is created by recycling pre-existing materials (such as plastic bottles and packaging) while maintaining all its qualities and performance.
The process of making recycled polyester involves chopping up small pieces of plastic waste. These tiny fragments are subsequently made into yarn, changed into a fibre, and finally produced into a fabric.
rPet production uses 33 to 53 per cent less energy than making polyester from start. Additionally, rPet emits about 54.6 per cent less CO2 into the atmosphere than virgin polyester.
